Office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. The county website has detailed information about services and procedures. Both parties must show up together to get a marriage license. You cannot send someone else or apply by mail. California law requires joint personal appearance under Family Code section 359. Bring valid photo ID like a driver license, passport, or state ID card. Your ID must show your photo, birth date, and issue date.

Complete an online application before your visit. The application stays on file for 90 days. When you arrive, the clerk reviews your application and issues the license.
